And look, I'll be the first to concede that we, by consequence of today's sensationalist, celebrity-driven media, place the personal lives of our public figures under ridiculous scrutiny. Hell, personally, I don't give a shit who or what my congressman is fucking in the privacy of his own hotel room. That's his life, just give me his voting record.
But these guys know this is part of the package when they throw their hat into the ring. They know it, or they wouldn't spend so much time trying to cover their asses. So the fact that these stories keep coming up suggests to me one of two things: either they're morons, or they don't give a shit. Neither of which traits one finds particularly endearing in a lawmaker.
I swear to Zeus, if the Democratic Party was anywhere near as good at discrediting its opponents as it is at discrediting itself, it might actually have a shot at winning a few elections.
